Our innovative bioscience industry has seen global commercial success. Maine’s life sciences range from discovery research to commercialization and manufacturing, with a diagnostics history that dates back to the 1970s. Over 200 companies and organizations are working in the life science field. Research, testing and medical labs in Maine have a concentration that is 35% higher than the national average.

The Healthcare industry is one of the largest employers in the state of Maine. In our region alone we have four hospital and five federally qualified healthcare centers. The healthcare industry supports over 67,000 jobs in the state and is poised for growth, with wages and demand for nurses and specialized positions continuing to increase.
